Report for the Month:

Sarasota County is cutting funds substantially for our Economic Development Commission. This is unfortunate. I have volunteered our assistance in helping the EDC during this period.

The new Mote Marine Aquarium at I-75 and University Parkway, just south of the UTC Mall is under construction. This new iconic structure will be a major tourist generator for our region. It also reduces traffic out to the beach for museum goers.

This development is typical of the great economic development improvements in Sarasota. These are often the result of a public private partnership. In this case both Sarasota and Manatee helped fund the project, although the major funding was private donations. Read more about it on the link below:
